Press a shortcut, speak, and your words appear wherever your cursor is. Murmur turns speech into text on your Mac with an open-source speech recognition model: no cloud transcription, no account, no subscription.

What stays on your Mac

On first launch, Murmur downloads its speech model once (about 150 MB to 3 GB, depending on your Mac's memory) from a server in the USA. After that, transcription runs entirely on your Mac. Murmur may store settings, transcription history, and optional audio recordings in your home folder (~/.murmur_config.json, ~/.murmur_history.json, ~/.murmur_audio/). You can turn off history and audio retention, or delete your local data, from Settings.
